Concord Community Day
All are welcome to attend the 46th year of this annual celebration of Concord Township! The day begins with the traditional 5K run. Runners can register for the 11th annual Miller Marut 5K at greaterclevelandxc.com. After the 5K, all are welcome to enjoy a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Concord Township Fire Department. The breakfast is free, but donations are welcome. Then head over to the ballfield and try your hand at a homerun or two at the new Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby. Kids can enjoy the traditional and beloved frog jump and then head over to Kid’s World with giant inflatables, a rock wall, bungee trampoline, dunk tank and games galore. Adults can browse the gift basket prizes in our legendary Chinese raffle, as tickets are on sale beginning at 10am, with the drawing at 8:30pm (need not be present to win).
At Noon, the community parade steps off from the Quail Hollow neighborhood, and heads east on Concord Hambden Road then south down Ravenna Road, ending at the Town Hall Campus. Folks can enjoy a variety of food and beverages from food trucks, and craft beer will be for sale starting at noon. More family fun can be found near the pavilion where kids can play with interactive motorized trains and watch the Outback Ray live animal show. Guests will be treated to live music throughout the day, starting with the Family Dog Band at 1pm, a Jazz Trio at 4pm and our headliner Band, Sumrada at 7pm. Four scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded during the Community Day Awards Ceremony, and the Sheriff’s Office will kick off their Drive Sober campaign.
Uncorked is back with beer, wine and the Chinese Raffle drawing. Guests can also enjoy tethered Hot Air Balloon rides throughout the evening. We encourage everyone to be a part of Concord Community Day! Be in the parade! Take your best shot at the Wiffle Ball Derby! Nominate someone for Citizen of the Year! Apply for a Community Day scholarship! All these forms are available on our website, concordtwp.com or check out our sensational schedule of events on the front page of Concord’s Summer Grapevine.
