Graphic Design & Communications Specialist

REPORTS TO: VICE PRESIDENT FOR ADVANCEMENT 
STATUS: FULL-TIME EXEMPT, SALARIED 
 
 
Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applications for the full-time position of Graphic Design and Communications Specialist. The Graphic Design and Communications Specialist will support the college’s communication and marketing efforts using design and publication platforms to educate, inform, and promote the work of Lake Erie College as well as provide operational, photographic, and other support as needed.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Creates visual content that meets the needs of the campus community including flyers, posters, programs, advertisements, invitations, social media posts, admissions collateral, and other assets.
  • Assists with website and social media as needed in coordination with the Public Affairs and Communications Strategist.  
  • Provides event photography support, as needed.
  • Provides budget oversight and serves as the liaison to the college’s accounts payable department.
  • Supports special assigned projects and events, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VPA.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & KEY COMPENTENCIES:
 
  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, Adobe Suite, and relevant design programs.
  • Proficiency with DSLR camera and basic editing software with ability to maintain equipment and upload images to cloud and group sharing platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; must be a self-starter.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse backgrounds and orientations.
  • Growth and “doer” mindset and institutional teamwork ethic.
  • Creative, strategic, thoughtful, and has a sense of humor.
