Madison Public Library is seeking a friendly, customer-focused team member to provide library services throughout the community. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the Library's mobile services and outreach efforts at schools, daycares, senior facilities, community events, and other outreach locations. The position will provide materials to homebound patrons. While the employee may occasionally assist with circulation duties in the library, the majority of scheduled hours will be spent providing mobile and outreach services in the community. This position may include driving the library outreach van but does not require operation of the bookmobile.
Pay & Schedule
- $14.83 per hour
- Approximately 15 hours per week
- Days, evenings, and Saturday hours as assigned
Essential Duties
- Deliver library services at outreach locations throughout the community.
- Provide materials to homebound patrons on a biweekly basis based on patron preferences and communications.
- Assist patrons with checking out materials, obtaining library cards, placing holds, and accessing library resources.
- Load, transport, and set up books, displays, and outreach materials.
- Promote & assist with library services and programs at schools, daycares, senior centers, community organizations, and special events.
- Maintain outreach collections and assist with inventory and material selection.
- Drive the library outreach van when assigned.
- Track outreach attendance and circulation statistics.
- Occasionally assist at the circulation desk by checking materials in and out, processing holds, collecting fees, answering phones, and assisting patrons.
- Shelve materials, process new items, and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Customer service experience required; library experience preferred.
- Experience working with people of different ages or developmental abilities preferred.
- Valid Ohio driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
- Strong technology, computer, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push carts up to 125 pounds working both inside the library and at community outreach locations.
